New Trash Carts from Rumke - Dec 6

posted Dec 23, 2012, 5:23 AM by eric snell

Rumpke has the delivery planned for the 65 gallon recycling carts on Dec.26. Also anyone who got the mailer and called in to get a trash cart rental should get these, and anyone who opted out of recycling cart to get the small bin.

Waste Management will probably be removing any carts or bins from Spring Valley residents after last service day on Friday Dec.28 or Saturday Dec.29.

Rumke's first service day will be on Friday Jan. 4 and then the new Thursday schedule will be on Jan. 10.

Trash pickup company changing to Rumke, January 2013

posted Nov 23, 2012, 4:56 AM by eric snell   [ updated Nov 23, 2012, 4:56 AM ]

In October 2012, the Village Council distributed a bid request for trash pickup services.  Waste Management and Rumke were the only responders.  Both companies met the bid requirements and all criteria within the request.  Rumke had a lower cost for residents and village services.  The Council reviewed both bids, discussed and selected Rumke to be the trash pickup provider for the village for a period of three years.  Rumke will take over trash pickup routes starting January, 2013.  Details of the bid and responses may be reviewed at the town hall.

Main St. Project delayed

posted Nov 21, 2012, 1:37 PM by eric snell

The Main St. Project has been delayed because the bids that came in were well over the available funding.  We have had to revise what we are going to be able to do on the project.  The engineers have to complete new specifications and then we have to re-bid the project.  We expect to open the new bids on January 8, 2013.

The changes to the project are as follows:
- The amount of new street is from Elm to Vine
- The replace and repair of storm sewer starts west of the bike path and ends at the outlet across from Elm St.
- The water main and connected services will be replaced from Elm to Vine
- Trees removed as needed from Vine to Elm

What won't happen as originally planned:
- Replace and repair the storm sewer from just west of the bike path to Bellbrook Avenue
- Replace the street from Vine to Bellbrook Avenue
- Add electrical conduit for future use
- Replace the water main and associated connections from Vine to Spring Valley-Paintersville Rd

- Trees removed from Vine to Bellbrook Avenue
